Passive House is a modern building standard that maximizes energy efficiency and air quality in order to decrease the ecological footprint of the building. In 2018, Chris and Judy Lee initiated the construction for LeeHaus – a passive house right here on the property. The design of the house requires 75% less energy input for heating and cooling systems.
While standard homes rely on thin joint block work to reduce cold-bridging, LeeHaus achieves high levels of energy efficiency through high standard insulation, optimal air-tightness, and passive solar gain through large triple-glazed windows. These mechanisms work in unison to reduce the carbon foot print in comparison to traditional homes.
